Candle Care
GENERAL SAFETY
- Never leave your burning candle unattended
- Only burn on a heat resistant surface. The tins can get warm/hot when the candle is lit
- A proper candle flame should be still; not flickering or emitting black smoke
- Keep candles out of reach from children and pets
- Place in a well ventilated space when lit, making sure there are no drafts
BURN TIME
For the best candle experience, follow these tips to extend your candle's life and enjoy a smooth, even burn:
- Limit Your Burn Time: Burn your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This helps keep the wax at an ideal consistency, preventing overheating and extending the life of your candle.
- The First Burn is Key: For the initial burn, allow the wax to melt fully across the surface, all the way to the edges of the container. This step is crucial in preventing “tunneling”—where only the wax around the wick melts, creating a deep "tunnel" in the center. Tunneling wastes wax and reduces your candle’s total burn time.
By following these steps, you’ll achieve a cleaner, longer-lasting candle burn every time.
WICK CARE
To ensure a safe, clean burn and get the most out of your candle, follow these simple wick care tips:
- Trim the Wick Before Lighting: When you first receive your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. After each burn, trim it again once the candle is fully cooled. This prevents the wick from overheating and helps avoid excessive flame and smoke.
- Use the Right Tools: If you find it hard to trim a wooden wick with a standard wick trimmer, try using a large nail clipper—especially handy near the bottom of the jar. This trick makes trimming easier, even in those hard-to-reach spots.
Proper wick maintenance not only keeps your candle burning evenly but also enhances its overall burn time and reduces unwanted smoke.
